Panel on Lawyer Discipline Oct 29 Oct 29, 2020 | 04:30 PM 06:00 PM Cardozo-Online Event Programs and Centers Open to public 04:30 PM - 06:00 PM Panel on Lawyer Discipline Panel on Lawyer Discipline and Executive Branch Lawyers The actions of Attorney General William Barr, who serves at the pleasure of the President, are controversial. Concerns have been expressed that he has violated the DC Rules of Professional Conduct (where he has been admitted). The gravamen of complaints against Barr are (1) that he has engaged in dishonesty or conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice, including by making false statements of fact and law; and (2) he has failed his client – the People of the United States – by preferring the interests of a non-client (President Trump) over his actual client and/or by using government power to promote partisan political interests. This panel will review both of these possible concerns. The panelists are: Bruce Green, Louis Stein Chair and Director of the Stein Center for Law and Ethics, Fordham Law School Thomas D. Morgan, Oppenheim Professor Emeritus of Antitrust and Trade Regulation Law, George Washington University Law School Rebecca Roiphe, Trustee Professor of Law and Co-Dean for Faculty Scholarship, New York Law School Moderator: Anthony Sebok, Professor of Law and Co-Director, Jacob Burns Center for Ethics in the Practice of Law, Benjamin N.
