Please join Cardozo School of Law's Entertainment Law Society and FAME Center in welcoming music industry lawyers on both the artist and label sides, as well as copyright and privacy law professors to discuss the impacts of the popularization of TikTok on artist development, music licensing, and copyright law. In talking about the ripple effects of the international success of the app, we will discuss American corporation Oracle's potential new stake in the company (and how the app has likely avoided being banned in the US) and what it means for the music business as a whole. Insight from activists, academics, and lawyers on the police abolition movements. Panelists will discuss the different perspectives within the movement and explain what must occur to meet those goals, whether it be complete abolition or reform. Lastly, panelists will discuss alternatives to policing.
