The Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution (CJCR) of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law has announced that William Ury will receive the 21st International Advocate for Peace Award (IAP) in March of 2022. Ury is co-author of "Getting to Yes: Negotiating Agreement Without Giving In," an international best-selling book considered one of the primary business negotiating texts of the modern era. He is a renowned expert on negotiation and mediation, on a personal, business and global level.
Journal editors cited Ury’s work as having “Influenced so many studying negotiation” and helping move “beyond positional and adversarial bargaining” to find “shared interests and creative ways to move forward.”
They further described Ury as being a driving force behind many successful negotiations and peacemaking efforts around the world. Ury will accept the award and provide remarks that will be featured in an upcoming edition of the Journal of Conflict Resolution.
Each year, the CJCR presents its IAP Award to an individual, organization, or group that has made significant contributions in the field of conflict resolution and in the promotion of peace around the world.
