Understanding DAOs
Join the Cardozo Startup Society for an event focusing one of the hottest topics in blockchain, DAOs! Joining us will be Professor Aaron Wright '05, founder of Cardozo's Blockchain Project and Co-Founder of Tribute Labs, Lewis Cohen '86, Co-Founder DLx Law, and Drew Hinkes, Partner at K&L Gates. DAOs seek to leverage the decentralized aspects of distributed ledger technology to create a new type of democratized business that is coordinated with direct input from stakeholders on a running and continuing basis without the need for intermediaries. The technology is still young and evolving and there have been some early scandals but the promise of the technology and the interest in it has grown significantly in the past few years. Just last year, the DAO became an officially recognized business organization in the state of Wyoming. As the world of blockchain and distributed ledger technology continues to grow, new organizations will need to spring up to support it and many will want to be able to do so with the same technology that attracted them to the space in the first place. For Cardozo students and/or staff attending the event in-person, please be advised that the event will take place in Room 205. Food and beverages will be provided. This program of one online panel is approved for up to 1 transitional/non-transitional New York State CLE credits in the category "Areas of Professional Practice." To receive CLE credits for a panel, you must attend that part of the program "live." We cannot award CLE credit for watching a recorded version of any part of this program. Zoom link will be sent out on the day of the event. RSVP link -- https://www.eventbrite.com/e/dao-the-blockchain-business-cardozo-startup-society-tickets-303131112317
