Our students study Dispute Resolution with leading faculty and practitioners through Cardozo’s renowned clinics and courses. The Program is home to the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution and sponsors an annual symposium on critical issues in domestic and international dispute resolution. Cardozo's dispute resolution program is just one of two programs that received an A+ rating from preLaw Magazine.
Letter from the Director | Andrea Schneider
Cardozo remains a vibrant home for scholars and practitioners across the dispute resolution field. This year, we are delighted to welcome Professor Britta Redwood to the faculty. A scholar of international law, her work on reparatory justice for historical harms adds a vital dimension to our growing program. Another new initiative is the launch of the Kukin Program Distinguished Fellows, a group of nationally and internationally recognized dispute resolution scholars who will help shape the program’s future.
In the year ahead, the Kukin Program will host conferences and events on the power of dialogue to dismantle extremism and hate; the future of dispute resolution; the next century of challenges to the Federal Arbitration Act; and a colloquium for dispute resolution scholars co-sponsored with the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution, The Dispute Resolution Committee of the AALS Section on Clinical Law, and Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Our focus is to create spaces where leading voices come together to explore the most pressing issues shaping the future of dispute resolution.
Cardozo students continue to distinguish themselves on the both the national and international stage. Last spring, members of the Dispute Resolution Honor Society won first place at the 2025 CPR International Mediation Competition in São Paulo, Brazil, the Brooklyn Law Second Annual Athlete Endorsement Negotiation Competition, and the University of Miami Counseling Creators Negotiation Competition. This fall, the Society will host the third annual Cardozo Invitational Negotiation on Entertainment, Media & Art (CINEMA), which has been expanded to include a half-day conference presented in partnership with Cardozo’s renowned Fashion Arts Media Entertainment (FAME) Center.
Experiential learning remains at the heart of our program. Our clinical students mediate more than 150 cases annually, and this year we celebrate two milestones: the 40th anniversary of our Mediation Clinic led by Professor Robyn Weinstein, and the 15th anniversary of our Divorce Mediation Clinic led by Professor Robert Collins.
As we look to the year ahead, I am proud of the ways our students, faculty, and alumni continue to advance the field of dispute resolution in New York City and around the world.
