Britta Redwood is an Assistant Professor of Law at Cardozo School of Law.

 

Redwood is a scholar of international law, critical legal theory, and reparatory justice. Her work considers how legal doctrine can be reimagined as a tool for redressing the legacies of colonialism and slavery. Her articles have appeared or are forthcoming in the NYU Journal of International Law and Politics, the Michigan Journal of International Law, the Fordham Journal of International Law, the German Yearbook of International Law, and the Berkeley Journal of International Law. In 2025, her work was selected for the Harvard/Stanford/Yale Junior Faculty Forum. She has also contributed to the work of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and the UN Working Group on People of African Descent.

 

Before joining Cardozo, Professor Redwood taught at the School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University, Howard University School of Law, and New York University School of Law. She has also worked as an attorney at the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights, the Atlantic Council's Strategic Litigation Project, and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP.

 

Professor Redwood earned her J.D. from Yale Law School, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Yale Journal of International Law. She earned her A.B. from Princeton University.
