Financial Aid
Scholarships:
Eligible students may receive a scholarship covering up to 10% of tuition. Scholarships are determined by Admissions during the admission application process. Please contact llm@yu.edu for additional information.
Student Loans:
Eligible students seeking student loans to assist with their tuition and/or living expenses can review the options below.
In order to receive federal student loans, U.S. citizens and eligible noncitizens should file the FAFSA (federal school code: 002903 - Yeshiva University). Once we receive the student's FAFSA from the U.S. Department of Education, we will set up the student's financial aid account for the academic year and then send the student a detailed financial aid offer email, which will detail the student's eligibility for federal student loans. Financial aid (scholarships and student loans) will disburse directly to the student's Cardozo account by the start of each academic year. Student refunds for living expenses are generated via direct deposit starting the first week of each semester.
Typical financial aid offer emails for eligible students who file the FAFSA will include information on the federal Stafford and Graduate PLUS loans.
Federal Stafford Loans:
US citizens and eligible noncitizens (permanent residents) who are registered for at least 6 credits per semester are eligible to receive a guaranteed Federal Stafford Loan in the amount of $20,500 per year.
Federal Graduate PLUS Loans:
Students who borrow the full $20,500 in Federal Stafford Loan may also borrow a Federal Graduate PLUS loan of up to the estimated cost attendance minus any other financial aid. This loan requires a determination that the applicant does not have an adverse credit history.
For more information on federal student loans, please visit www.cardozo.yu.edu/studentloans, scroll down to the appropriate loan section. Only review the loan information. Do not proceed with accepting / applying for student loans until you have received an official financial aid offer email from Cardozo's Office of Student Finance.
Students in the United States on a student visa are not eligible to receive federal loans.
Private Student Loans:
Students who are ineligible to receive federal loans (Stafford and Graduate PLUS), may want to consider borrowing a private student loan. Approval of a private loan is based on creditworthiness (Please Note: international students may need a co-signer who has established credit in the US). Please feel free to search online for potential private student loan lender options.
