Our students study Dispute Resolution with leading faculty and practitioners through Cardozo’s renowned clinics and courses. The Program is home to the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution and sponsors an annual symposium on critical issues in domestic and international dispute resolution. Cardozo's dispute resolution program is just one of two programs that received an A+ rating from preLaw Magazine.
Professor Andrea Schneider Receives Outstanding Book Award from The International Institute for Conflict Resolution and Prevention
The International Institute for Conflict Resolution and Prevention (CPR) gave the 2025 Outstanding Book Award to Discussions in Dispute Resolution: The Coming of Age 2000–2009 (2025) published by Oxford University Press. Professor Andrea Schneider is a co-editor of this book with Professor Art Hinshaw (Arizona State University) and Professor Sarah Cole (Ohio State University). In 2021, the first volume of the series, Discussions in Dispute Resolution: The Foundational Articles also received the Outstanding Book Award.
Students Conduct Presentations at U.S. Federal District Court for the Eastern District of New York
This spring, the Cardozo Mediation Clinic participated in the Second Circuit Civic Education Program by conducting presentations about mediation for high school students visiting the U.S. Federal District Court for the Eastern District of New York. ▶ Professor Andrea Schneider
Professor Schneider continued her work training university faculty on negotiation skills including programs at the Career Development Institute for Psychiatry, with the University of Pittsburgh & Stanford University in March 2025; the Women’s Mentoring Circle, at the Weill Cornell Medicine Department of Anesthesiology in May 2025; and a full faculty training at Washington State University in February 2026.

Professor Brian Farkas was recently appointed Co-Chair of the NYC Bar Association Task Force on Higher Education, where he will focus on issues including free speech, diversity, and university–government relations.

Professor Maurice Robinson spoke on a panel with Professor Farkas at the NYSBA Annual Meeting on January 15, 2026, alongside Professor Maurice Robinson, Esq., titled Bridging the Generational Divide: ADR in a Multi-Generational Workforce.

On November 13, 2025, Professor Katie Gonzalez (Cleary Gottlieb) spoke on a panel entitled, The Evidence Trap: Navigating Damages Claims with Too Little or Too Much Information, with Lauren Friedman (King & Spalding) Camila Biral (Demarest), Benning Kimmelman, and Carletta Wong (Analysis Group) at HardTalk New York.
▶ Professor Joseph Choe
On November 20, 2025, Professor Joseph Choe organized a launch event for the New York chapter of Very Young Arbitration Professionals. Professor Choe serves as the group’s inaugural co-chair, alongside Irene Whelan Vita (Foley Hoag) and Lynn Fouad (Dynamis LLP). Professor Katie Gonzalez also spoke at the event.
▶ Professor Robyn Weinstein
On September 25, 2025, Professor Weinstein spoke at the New York State Dispute Resolution Association Annual Conference on a panel called, Partnering for Impact: The Role of Law School Mediation Clinics in Court-Based ADR with Kamella English (New York Unified State Court System), Cai Phillips-Jones (New York Peace Institute), and Professor Susan Salazar (CUNY Law School).
Professor Weinstein also participated in the Future of ADR Conference held at Cardozo Law School on October 9, 2025. Professor Weinstein spoke on a panel titled Engineering Ethical AI: Applying and Evolving Ethical Cannons in ADR with Daniel Gonzalez (Hogan Lovells US LLP), Mia Levy (CPR Dispute Resolution), Sam Prevatt (Freshfields).
On October 14, 2025, Professor Weinstein presented on federal district court mediation programs to the New York City Bar Association Federal Courts Committee.
Cardozo Mediation Clinic Students Make Informational Videos for Pro Se Litigants
The Cardozo Mediation Clinic worked in collaboration with the New York City Bar Association ADR Committee and the New York City Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service to develop two informational videos to help litigants understand and prepare for mediation in New York State Small Claims, Civil, and Family Courts. The videos were developed in partnership with the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) Divorce Mediation Project.

Cardozo Dispute Resolution Competition Honor Society 2025–2026 Highlights
This year the Cardozo Dispute Resolution Competition Honor Society students have competed in ten national and international dispute resolution competitions, earning top honors and recognition for outstanding advocacy, negotiation, and mediation skills.
▶ Alec Gordon ’27 won Second Place Best Client, Jessica Taft ’27 won Second Place Best Attorney, and Nisha Gupta ’27 won Fourth Place Best Mediator at the CPR International Mediation Competition. (March 2026)
▶ At the INADR Chicago Mediation team advanced to semi-finals for attorney/client pair. CDRCHS was represented by Safa Bilal ’27, Ariana Augello ’27, and Alix Sholomon ’27. (March 2026)
▶ Mollie Thomas ’27 and Inga Keselman ’27 won second place overall at the Brooklyn Law Athlete Endorsement Negotiation Competition. (March 2026)
▶ At the UCLA Transactional Law Competition (pictured), Lauren Fialkow ’27 and Sofia Bergqvist ’27 won Best Markup, one of three awards presented, for their negotiation and drafting work on complex business transactions. (February 2026)
▶ Joshua Oh ’27, McKenna Madden ’27, Camryn Hohneker ’27, Kinme Reeves ’26, and Krista Jones ’26 competed in the 21st ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition. The Team earned a Distinction in Opening Statement at the competition. (February 2026)
▶ At the University of Houston Law Center National Mediator Competition, Rebecca Reyes ’27 advanced to the semi-finals, ranking among the top four mediators in this innovative, dual-track competition. (October 2025)
Cardozo in Paris
On February 5, 2026, Professor Lela Love gave a keynote address at the Global Dispute Resolution Conference (GDRC) hosted at the Université Paris–Panthéon–Assas. On February 6, 2026, Professor Love and Weinstein facilitated a Mediator Stories event at the International Mediation Conference for Professionals at the ICC Headquarters in Paris featuring storytellers Rosin O’Shea (Arc Mediation), Martin Svatos (FORARB), Professor Ellen Waldman (CPR), and Ferda Paksoy (ADRIstanbul).

The International Advocate for Peace Award Ceremony & ABA DR Section Regional Meetup

The Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution will honor Ambassador George Moose as the 25th recipient of the International Advocate for Peace Award. Ambassador Moose is Chair Emeritus of the U.S. Institute of Peace. He served on the Institute’s Board of Directors from 2007 to 2023. He was a career member of the U.S. Foreign Service, where he attained the rank of Career Ambassador before retiring in 2003. His assignments included Assistant Secretary for Africa (1993–1997) and U.S. Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva (1998–2001). He is an adjunct professor of practice at the Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University. He currently serves on the boards of Grinnell College, Road Scholar, and the American Academy of Diplomacy, and as a member of the UN Foundation’s Global Leadership Council.
Ambassador Moose’s career demonstrates a clear and steady commitment to pursuing peace in the face of acute political transition and conflict. The Journal is pleased to Honor Ambassador Moose for a lifetime of diplomatic service and his commitment to promoting peace.
Following the Award Ceremony there will be a cocktail reception and regional meet up event hosted in partnership with the ABA Dispute Resolution Section.

The ABA DR Section Dispute Resolution Educators Colloquium
8:30 a.m. — 4:30 p.m.
The Dispute Resolution Educators Colloquium brings together educators, clinicians, and students for a full day of learning, collaboration, and community building. The program includes a resource share of teaching tools and methods, demonstrations of innovative teaching approaches, and experiential activities to enhance learning in dispute resolution.
The Colloquium will include a Poster Session which will be a highly interactive forum for sharing educational ideas, teaching tools, and pedagogical innovations. To submit a proposal for the poster session, please fill out this form.
