The Cardozo Dispute Resolution Competition Honor Society (DRCHS) had a remarkable year of achievements, showcasing the strength of Cardozo’s dispute resolution training both at home and abroad. DRCHS teams also traveled across the U.S. and internationally to represent Cardozo in prestigious competitions:
- At the 2025 CPR International Mediation Competition in São Paulo, Brazil, the negotiation team of Alan Gitelman ’26 and Rachel Sadow ’26 won first place. Maya Horowich ’26 was awarded second place for her performance as a mediator. Watch the final round here.
- Maddy Katz '26 and Lauren Johnson '26 placed first in the Brooklyn Law Second Annual Athlete Endorsement Negotiation Competition.
- Sy Alifeld ’26, Madeline Katz ’26, and Joshua Rosen ’26 competed at the 21st Annual Brenau University Invitational Mediation Tournament, winning First Place Advocate/Client Team, Second Place Advocate/Client Pair, and Third Place Mediator Team.
- Carter Clees ’26, Solly Jacobs ’26, and Claire Miller ’26 took first place at the University of Miami Counseling Creators Negotiation Competition.
- Alan Gitelman ’26 and Lauren Chasnow ’26, finished as semifinalists, placing in the top four out of 64 competing teams at the 2nd Annual ABA M&A Committee Cup Invitational in Laguna Beach, California.
- Zeynep Karageldi ’26 and Eli Gordon ’26 were named first runners-up at the 2024 Thomas Jefferson School of Law National Sports Law Negotiation Competition.
- Zeynep Karageldi ’26 and Perry Santos ’26 reached the semifinals of the New York Law School Sports Law Society Soccer Law Competition.
On November 10, 2024, DRCHS hosted its Third Annual Cardozo Invitational Negotiation on Entertainment, Media & the Arts (CINEMA). This innovative competition simulates intellectual property and entertainment law negotiations, with law students acting as attorneys to navigate complex, real-world legal scenarios. The event drew 38 teams from 22 law schools across the country and was judged by 70 leading entertainment and intellectual property attorneys. The final round of the competition was judged by the Hon. Gregory Sleet (Ret.), (JAMS), Ana Sambold,(ADR Services) Kristin Hopkins (A+E Networks) and Daniel Hakimi ‘15 (Meunier Carlin & Curfman LLC).
In addition to national events, DRCHS hosted its annual Intraschool Negotiation Competition on March 20, 2025. More than 120 Cardozo students participated, with over 50 practicing attorneys serving as judges. Students negotiated two separate scenarios and received individualized feedback from practitioners. The team of Naomi Giavanna Cohen ’27 and Mollie Thomas ’27 earned first place. Jinny Miniung Choi ’27 and Jungeun Yu ’27 placed second, and Aidan Arnold ’27 and Kendrick Darko ’27 placed third. Xavier Dreux ’27 received a Certificate of Achievement for his outstanding performance.
