Dean Melanie Leslie is pleased to announce the promotion of Professor Ingrid Mattson to the position of Associate Dean of the Law Library.
Mattson joined Cardozo in 2018 as Assistant Director for Instructional Services, moving to New York from Columbus, Ohio, where she was a reference librarian at Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University. She has been teaching law for 15 years, starting as an adjunct professor teaching Media Law and Ethics in Seattle, as well as legal writing and research at Ohio State and Cardozo and legal writing as a visiting professor at China University of Political Science and Law.
Mattson earned her BS from the University of Florida, MLIS from the University of Washington and her JD from Seattle University. She recently published the book Principles of Legal Research. She is active in several professional organizations and was most recently appointed to the George A. Strait Scholarship & Fellows Committee, an American Association of Law Libraries committee focused on increasing opportunities for members of minority groups in the law librarianship profession.
"Cardozo appreciates the law library's impact on student life, faculty scholarship, and the law school community at large, and I am delighted to continue working with library staff to ensure the law library supports the law school's mission," said Mattson.
Over the past year, in addition to reopening the library after an almost four-month closure, she chaired Cardozo’s Logistics, Building, and Space Committee to develop solutions for a safe, compliant return to the building for staff, students, and faculty.
