
The Benjamin N. Cardozo Law School is proud to announce that the Hon. Joseph A. Greenaway Jr., U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, will deliver the commencement address for the law school’s 45th graduation ceremony.
The Hon. Joseph A. Greenaway, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, is an integral part of the Cardozo community, serving as an adjunct professor teaching courses on trial practice and appellate advocacy to great acclaim.
In 1995, he was nominated by President Bill Clinton to a seat on the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, where he served until 2010. In 2010, President Barack Obama appointed him to the U.S. Court of Appeals, Third Circuit. Judge Greenaway recently announced that he will retire from the bench in June of this year.
Prior to being appointed to the bench, Judge Greenaway was a litigation associate at the New York law firm of Kramer Levin, a law clerk for the Hon. Vincent Broderick of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and an attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey, where he was promoted to Chief of the Narcotics Bureau. He later served as in-house counsel for Johnson & Johnson. Judge Greenaway received his B.A. from Columbia University in 1978 and his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1981.
The Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law 45th Annual Commencement Exercises will take place on Monday June 5 at 3:00 p.m. at David Geffen Hall, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
