Cardozo Law has been awarded an A+ in Trial Advocacy by Above the Law in its 2026 rankings—the only law school in the nation to receive the top grade. The recognition underscores Cardozo’s longstanding leadership in experiential legal education and its commitment to preparing students to excel in the courtroom from day one.
At the center of this success is Cardozo’s renowned Intensive Trial Advocacy Program (ITAP), a cornerstone of the school’s practical skills curriculum. In this immersive, two-week program, students train with leading judges and practicing attorneys from across the country, developing the core skills required of effective litigators. Through a “master class” approach, students learn by doing—conducting direct and cross-examinations, preparing witnesses, selecting juries, addressing evidentiary challenges, and ultimately presenting a full jury trial. Throughout the experience, students receive detailed feedback from judges and practitioners, including individualized video critiques, ensuring they build both confidence and courtroom readiness.
Beyond ITAP, Cardozo offers a wide range of simulation courses, clinics, and competitive trial team opportunities that allow students to refine their advocacy skills in real-world settings. This A+ distinction from Above the Law reflects the depth and consistency of Cardozo’s approach to advocacy training.
