New MSL degree equips professionals with critical expertise in labor and employment law
Cardozo School of Law, in collaboration with YU Global, today announced the launch of a fully online Master of Studies in Law (MSL) in Labor and Employment Law. Designed specifically for professionals in human resources, compliance, operations, and management, the program offers in-depth legal knowledge without requiring a JD.
Cardozo School of Law and YU Global, divisions of Yeshiva University, have created a unique academic pathway for non-lawyers seeking to enhance their careers through a solid foundation in labor and employment law. The MSL degree enables professionals to deepen their understanding of legal frameworks, improve organizational compliance, and position themselves for long-term career advancement.
The 30-credit graduate program is delivered entirely online, offering working professionals the flexibility to balance study with career demands. Taught by renowned scholars and practitioners in New York City, the curriculum emphasizes real-world application of labor and employment issues, and litigation landmines. Courses include Sex and Gender Issues in the Workplace, Social Media, Privacy, and Intellectual Property Issues in the Workplace, Employment Discrimination Law Principles, Conducting Workplace Investigations, Avoiding Litigation Pitfalls in Human Resources, among others.
"This new master’s program is a game-changer for professionals navigating today’s complex HR and compliance environment,” said Melanie Leslie, Dean of Cardozo School of Law. “With Cardozo’s faculty expertise and our strong New York City connections, we’re uniquely positioned to deliver an exceptional education in labor and employment law to non-lawyers.”
The MSL in Labor and Employment Law is the latest offering from YU Global, founded in 2023, to provide career-focused, flexible academic programs.
“In today’s increasingly competitive job market, this MSL provides a distinct edge,” said Dr. Danielle Wozniak, Vice President for Global Strategy and Business Development at Yeshiva University. “It equips professionals with the legal insight needed to lead effectively and drive organizational success.”
The program offers a dynamic, learner-centered experience through interactive modules, live virtual discussions, and collaborative projects. It is engaging and offers participation, not passive viewing. Students are immersed in practical learning through role-plays, group work, and mentorship opportunities.
