Professor Gabor Rona filed an amicus curiae brief with a group of international human rights lawyers for Al Bahlul v. United States, arguing that the use of torture-based evidence in the sentencing of a Guantanamo detainee violates international human rights law obligations of the United States. He also served as an expert witness on behalf of another detainee, Khalid Ahmed Qasim, claiming that his detention as an enemy combatant is no longer permissible following the end of the conflict in Afghanistan.
