NIHI is proud to announce that applications for its next training, to be held at Cardozo School of Law in New York City on November 9-10, 2026, are now live. This training is designed specifically for immigration attorneys who practice in the Second and Third Circuits. Access the application here.
Applications will remain open until midnight EST on October 2, 2026. Acceptances will be issued on a rolling basis, so we encourage people to submit applications as soon as feasible, while space remains.
As with all NIHI trainings, the training is free of charge, including meals, and the faculty will include some of the nation's top immigration habeas litigators. All accepted applicants are expected to attend both days of the intensive training, which will include plenary sessions on advanced topics in immigration habeas law, mock oral arguments, and practical small group sessions. In return for the free training, all attendees must also agree to litigate one pro bono immigration habeas case in federal district court in the year following their training. Unlike past NIHI trainings, this is a workshop-only training and NIHI mentors will not be assigned to participants. This training is ideal for attorneys who practice in the Second and Third Circuit with significant experience in immigration court, but who have limited (or no) experience litigating immigration habeas petitions in federal court. All such attorneys are encouraged to apply.
