The Program is home to the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution and sponsors an annual symposium on critical issues in domestic and international dispute resolution. Is Mediation A Sleeping Beauty? The Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution Asks International Experts to Weigh In
This year’s Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution (CJCR) Melnick symposium, "Is Mediation A Sleeping Beauty?" is inspired by the upcoming 10th Anniversary of the 2014 CJCR Symposium by the same name. The symposium will take place on Friday, November 8th, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City.
This Symposium will be a capstone event for a series of international conferences that Professors Lela P. Love and Giuseppe De Palo hosted in Trento, Hong Kong, Doha, Sao Paulo, Hague, Netherlands, and Istanbul. The symposium will include panels on: Quantity—Is Mediation Awake and Alive and Growing? (Panel: Professor Zachary Calo, Professor Diego Faleck, Professor Ana Sambold, Professor Srđan Šimac); Quality—Is Mediation Fulfilling Its Historic Promise of Promoting Talk, Collaboration and Conflict Closure? (Panel Members: Professor James Coben, Tat Lim, Ivana Ninčić Österle, Professor Nancy Welsh); The Future—Waves of Change and Areas of Promise: Technology and AI (Panel Members: Professor Giuseppe De Palo, Professor Felix Steffek, Professor Noam Ebner, Colin Rule); and Global Policy Leaders and Sustainability (Judge Joyce Aluoch, Katarina Mansson, Professor Carrie Menkel-Meadow, Nokukhanya Nox Ntuli).

Mediation Clinic Alumni Kwanza Jones Honored at BALLSA Gala
On February 28, 2024, Cardozo Mediation Clinic alumni Kwanza Jones '99 was honored at the Cardozo School of Law Black Asian Latino Law Students Association’s (BALLSA) annual gala.
Kwanza Jones was chosen as 2024’s BALLSA Gala Honoree for her work with the Kwanza Jones & José E. Feliciano Initiative, a philanthropic grant-making and investment organization co-founded by Jones that has committed more than $200 million to education, entrepreneurship, equity and empowerment. The event also provided a reunion for fellow Class of 1999 mediation clinic alumni Matthew T. Lattimer '99 and Darlene Snell '99.
