Jennifer Naiburg has been with the Queens County District Attorney’s Office since 1993. Before her appointment in January of 2020 as Chief Assistant, Ms. Naiburg most recently served as the first Bureau Chief of a newly established felony trial bureau and before that, as Director of Special Projects and Major Case Advisor. In that role, Jennifer developed and implemented an office-wide system to help prosecutors fulfill their legal and ethical obligations regarding disclosure of material that may adversely affect a police witness’s credibility. Ms. Naiburg served on mayoral and other city-wide working groups preparing for the monumental criminal justice reform legislation that took effect in January 2020 and has since guided the Office through the implementation of those changes. Today Ms. Naiburg serves as the chief executive for DA Melinda Katz and manages the daily legal operations of the DA’s Office.
For many years Ms. Naiburg was both the Deputy Director of Trial Advocacy and Deputy Bureau Chief of the Career Criminal Major Crimes Bureau and another felony trial bureau. In her training position Ms. Naiburg oversaw and acted as faculty for many in-house training programs and also regularly conducted training programs for outside agencies, including the NYPD, the PAPD and NYC Fire Marshals.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Naiburg primarily devoted her time and talents to several trial bureaus including the Career Criminal Major Crimes Bureau and the Homicide Trials Bureau. Ms. Naiburg has personally tried some of Queens County’s most serious crimes such as murder, robbery, burglary, kidnapping, felony assault and A-1 narcotics cases.
For ten years, Ms. Naiburg was also an Adjunct Professor at Fordham Law School, co-teaching a prosecutor’s clinic. She is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School. Before that, she received her B.A. from the University of Michigan.
