Professor Mayer joined Cardozo in 2025 from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was a Harry A. Bigelow Teaching Fellow and Lecturer in Law. His research mainly focuses on corporate reorganizations and other domains of private law, such as tort law, bankruptcy law, and the law governing fiduciary duties. Prior to his fellowship, Jared was an associate in the business restructuring group at Ropes & Gray, LLP. In his practice, Jared represented companies, lenders, equity sponsors, and other institutions in an array of in-court and out-of-court restructurings. Prior to that, he served as a law clerk to Justice Barry T. Albin (ret.) of the New Jersey Supreme Court. Jared received his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and his B.A. and M.A. from Johns Hopkins University.
