Professor Engelman teaches contract drafting at Cardozo. She is also Deputy General Counsel and Managing Director at DW Partners, LP, an alternative asset manager that invests its $2B+ AUM primarily in bonds and loans collateralized by real estate. In this role, Professor Engelman advises on all legal matters for the company with a specific focus on investment-side transactions. Prior to joining DW Partners, Professor Engelman was an associate in the real estate department at Proskauer Rose LLP, where she represented clients in a wide variety of real estate transactions, including acquisitions and sales, financing, leasing and joint ventures. Prior to joining Proskauer, she served as a law clerk for the Hon. Eric L. Clay on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. She earned her B.A., summa cum laude, from Emory University and her J.D., magna cum laude, from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. She has been a member of the faculty at Cardozo since 2022.
