Burns Book Talk: The Education of Brett Kavanaugh

    https://cardozo.yu.edu/events/burns-book-talk-education-brett-kavanaugh
    Jan 23, 2020

Sponsored by the Jacob Burns Center for Ethics in the Practice of Law and co-sponsored by Cardozo's chapter of the American Constitutional Society

In September 2018, the F.B.I. was given one week to investigate allegations of sexual misconduct against Brett Kavanaugh, Trumps's Supreme Court nominee. As Kavanaugh was sworn in to his lifetime position, many questions about his conduct remain unanswered. New York Times reporters Robin Pogrebin and Kate Kelly broke critical stories about Kavanaugh’s past, and their new book helps to fill in the blanks.

Join the Burns Center and Cardozo Professor Jessica Roth for a discussion of this important work, followed by a Q & A.

The Current State and Future of Professional Baseball: A Panel Discussion

    https://cardozo.yu.edu/events/current-state-and-future-professional-baseball-panel-discussion
    Mar 17, 2021

Following a pandemic-shortened 2020 regular season, Major League Baseball faces an uncertain economic future coupled with long-lasting labor issues. There have also been significant changes to the structure of Minor League Baseball, including the disaffiliation of some 40 minor league teams and elimination of certain minor leagues. Joining the Cardozo Sports Law Society to discuss all of these issues, and the future of both MLB and MiLB, are Chuck Greenberg and Jamey Newberg. Mr. Greenberg is a lawyer and businessman who is the chairman and founder of Greenberg Sports Group, which owns the minor league State College Spikes, Frisco RoughRiders and Myrtle Beach Pelicans. He is also a former managing partner and CEO of the Texas Rangers. Mr. Newberg is a lawyer, sportswriter and professor who covers the Texas Rangers for The Athletic and is an adjunct professor in Southern Methodist University's Sports Management MBA program. We are very excited to have Mr. Newberg and Mr. Greenberg speak with us about the current state and future of professional baseball, drawing on their incredible experience in law, journalism, business, academia and team ownership.
