    https://cardozo.yu.edu/events/conversation-rise-hate-crimes-and-discrimination
    Apr 13, 2021

The past year has been extremely difficult for everyone. The Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community especially has faced a horrifying surge of violence. During this time, there were nearly 4,000 anti-Asian hate incidents reported to Stop AAPI Hate. Please join Cardozo APALSA on April 13, 2021 at 6:30PM for a panel discussing the rise of violence towards the AAPI community as well as how we can move forward while raising awareness about these issues.

  • FAQS
    Q

    Should I study abroad?

    A

The decision to study abroad is a complicated one.

As the practice of law becomes increasingly international, study abroad during law school offers a competitive edge.

Past participants have regarded their semesters abroad as one of the highlights of their law school education. But studying abroad requires trade-offs. Any semester abroad means forsaking a semester of study at Cardozo.

Credits earned through study abroad do not count in a student’s grade point average.

Job search activities are limited from abroad.  Certain clinical opportunities, moot-court competitions and editorial positions on a journal are not available to students who are not in residence at Cardozo for a full academic year.

Interested students should meet with the Senior Director for Graduate and International Programs to discuss options.

Bully. Coward. Victim. The Story of Roy Cohn

    https://cardozo.yu.edu/events/bully-coward-victim-story-roy-cohn
    Feb 08, 2021

Professor Barry Scheck, co founder and co director of The Innocence Project at Cardozo Law, discusses the documentary Bully. Coward. Victim. The Story of Roy Cohn with its director, Ivy Meeropol, and her father, Michael Meeropol.  Particularly relevant given today's political climate, the conversation will address why now is the time to talk about Roy Cohn.

The documentary offers an unflinching look at the infamous attorney who prosecuted Ivy Meeropol’s grandparents, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, and later argued persuasively for their execution in what became known as the “atomic spies” case.

The film examines Cohn’s life as chief counsel to Senator Joseph McCarthy in the late 1950s and then through the 1980s when he became a darling of the Reagan White House, a rabid anti-homosexuality activist and political mentor to Donald J. Trump before dying from AIDS in 1986.

This FAME event is co-sponsored by the Filmmakers Legal Clinic and the Cardozo OUTlaw Alumni.
