She was also a panelist for the conference "Mediation: A Sleeping Beauty” (Doha), organized as a part of the Sleeping Beauty Conference Series by the HBKU College of Law, and a trainer in the Advanced Mediation Training for the Mediators of the Office of the Ombudsman for United Nations Funds and Programmes. Professor Hillary Packer (bottom right) presented on Restorative Justice in the Courts, at the New York State Dispute Resolution Annual Conference. (October 2023) The panel focused on restorative justice, a paradigm and set of practices inspired by indigenous traditions, which is increasingly used to respond to harm. Additionally, Professor Packer’s work was featured in a New York Times article about her initiative “Circles for Safe Streets” that aims to allow car crash-victims and drivers to bridge the communication gap between all the people involved in a car crash using restorative justice techniques.
