
Parvin Aminolroaya ’08, John Elefterakis ’09, and Stephanie Knepper Basman ’08 joined Cardozo’s Board of Overseers in April. Engaged members of the law school’s alumni community, each brings a wealth of experience and a shared vision to advance Cardozo’s commitment to legal excellence, ethical leadership, and public service.
Parvin Aminolroaya is Partner at Seeger Weiss LLP, alongside named partners and former Cardozo Board of Overseers member, Christopher Seeger ’90 and honorary overseer, Stephen Weiss ’90. Aminolroaya is an emerging leader within the Plaintiffs’ bar with extensive experience in mass tort and class action cases. She has been involved in several landmark litigations, such as the National Prescription Opiate litigation, 3M Combat Arms Earplug Litigation and the GLP-1 RA Products Liability Litigation against companies that make Ozempic and similar medications. During her time at Cardozo, she was the editorial board member of the Moot Court Honor Society, for which she received the Jacob Burns Medal for Outstanding Contribution. As an alumna, she served on both the Alumni Association’s former Executive Committee and was Co-Chair of Cardozo Women and Vice-Chair of Black Asian Latino Law Students Association (BALLSA) Alumni. In 2017, she was honored at the Annual BALLSA Alumni Celebration.
John Elefterakis is the Founding Partner of Elefterakis, Elefterakis & Panek, a premier personal injury law firm serving clients primarily across New York and New Jersey, while also taking on high-value cases nationwide. A top-tier litigator, Elefterakis has secured over a billion dollars in jury verdicts and settlements for victims of car accidents, premises liability incidents, workplace injuries, and other serious harm. In addition to his personal injury practice, Elefterakis leads the firm’s high-profile civil rights division, representing clients in wrongful conviction and major employment discrimination cases. His commitment to justice and equity has earned him notable accolades, including the Achievement in Law Award from the One Hundred Black Men organization and recognition as one of SuperLawyers' Top 40 Under 40 Rising Stars. A strong advocate for legal education and mentorship, Elefterakis maintains close ties to Cardozo, where he and his fellow founding partner, Raymond Panek ’11, actively mentor and hire students and alumni. Outside the courtroom, Elefterakis is a passionate philanthropist. Through the firm’s nonprofit, EEP Impact, he promotes youth development by providing inner-city youth with access to mentorship, academic support, and athletic programs designed to empower and inspire.
Stephanie Knepper Basman is Counsel and Principal at SKA Marin, a leading affordable housing development and ownership firm in New York that was recognized nationally by Affordable Housing Finance magazine as a top 50 Affordable Housing Development company. The firm is a trailblazer in developing affordable senior and special-needs housing, with a focus on integrating health and housing. Knepper Basman also serves on the Advisory Board of the New York Housing Conference, the Regional Board of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, President of Sisterhood at Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun and co-Chair of The Hampton Synagogue Advisory Council. During Knepper Basman’s time at Cardozo, she was President of the Real Estate Society and Notes Editor of the Public Policy and Law Journal. Most recently, she has been a dedicated Homecoming & Reunion host committee member.
