Where are we in labor law and how did we get here? Why is labor relations so litigious in sports? What is contributing to the uptick in unionization efforts at Starbucks and Amazon, among others? Join us to hear our distinguished panel discuss current developments and labor law disputes from a historical perspective.
Panelists include National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Member Gwynne A. Wilcox, Professor of Practice David J. Weisenfeld and Former Adjunct Professor Dan Silverman, who held various positions at the NLRB including Regional Director in Manhattan and Acting General Counsel. Professor David Rudenstine will moderate the conversation.

David Rudenstine: is the Sheldon H. Solow Professor of Law and the former Dean of Cardozo School of Law.
David J. Weisenfeld: Weisenfeld is a Professor of Practice at Cardozo where he teaches courses in labor and employment law, alternative dispute resolution and contract drafting. He also serves as an arbitrator and mediator of labor and employment disputes. Prior to becoming a neutral, Weisenfeld practiced management-side labor and employment law in New York City for 22 years, most recently as a partner at Thelen Reid & Priest.
Gwynne A. Wilcox: Wilcox was nominated by President Biden on May 27, 2021 to the National Labor Relations Board, and she was confirmed by the Senate on July 28, 2021. Her term will last until August 27, 2023. Most recently, Wilcox was a senior partner at Levy Ratner, P.C., a New York City labor and employment law firm. There, she served as Associate General Counsel of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East and as a labor representative to the NYC Office of Collective Bargaining. Prior to joining Levy Ratner, Wilcox worked as a Field Attorney at Region 2 of the National Labor Relations Board in New York City. Wilcox has a J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law-Newark and a B.A. from Syracuse University.
Daniel Silverman: After graduating from NYU law School with a JD and LL.M. in labor law, Silverman worked for the National Labor Relations Board starting as trial lawyer in Pittsburgh and holding positions of Regional Director in NYC and Acting General Counsel on an appointment by President Clinton. After leaving the Board he was in private practice representing both unions and employers and now works solely as a labor arbitrator.
