Giuseppe Mazziotti is the Abreu Professor of Law and Innovation at the Católica Global School of Law and a member of the Research Centre for the Future of Law at Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Lisbon. His academic journey led him to Católica following an impactful eight-year tenure (2014-2022) as a Professor of Intellectual Property Law at Trinity College Dublin and three years as an Assistant Professor at the University of Copenhagen (2009-2012). Currently, he leads and coordinates the Horizon Europe project 'Fair MusE,' which aims to promote fairness within a platform-dominated and post-pandemic music ecosystem.
Holding a summa cum laude Juris Doctor from the University of Perugia (2001) and a PhD in Law from the European University Institute in Florence (2007), Mazziotti's expertise bridges EU intellectual property law, information technology law, media law, and cultural policies. Having served as an advisor to various organizations, including governments and think tanks such as the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels, his work has significantly influenced scholarly discourse and policy across Europe. His innovative approaches to intellectual property challenges advocate for a balance between creators' rights and technological advancement.
