Updates to COVID-19 Protocols For the Spring 2022 Semester
For Students
We hope this email finds you safe and well. We are excited to welcome you back in-person on Monday, January 31st for in-person classes. Please see below re: important information and reminders on building protocols:
- Submission of Proof of Booster on InsideTrack As a reminder, proof of booster is required for all eligible students and employees. Please upload your booster on InsideTrack at your earliest convenience, and no later than January 29th, or 48 hours prior to your first entry into the building.
- *Note, Those who are not yet eligible must obtain their booster as soon as they become eligible (i.e. 6 months after the second Pfizer or Moderna shot, or 2 months after the single J&J shot) and must upload the proof within 30 days of eligibility.
- Submission of Negative COVID Test on InsideTrack: All members of the Cardozo community must upload a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than five (5) days, and are required to upload the results no later than 48 hours prior to returning to the building. For students planning to return on January 31st, your COVID test must be taken no earlier than January 26th and must be uploaded no later than January 29th. Please note that the University is accepting both PCR and lab-issued rapid antigen tests. They are *NOT accepting at-home COVID tests. Please ensure to submit your proof of negative COVID test through InsideTrack.
- On-campus COVID Testing: Cardozo will resume mandatory weekly on-site testing for all students the week of February 7th. More information on testing hours will be provided by next week.
- Mask mandate: All persons must wear a mask—covering both mouth and nose—at all times in the Cardozo building. The only exception is while actively eating and drinking, and even then it should be only for a short time. Please make an effort to wear a high filtration mask (e.g. N95, KN95, or KF94) or at least one surgical mask. Cloth masks do not provide adequate protection to oneself or others against the omicron variant.
- Eating is prohibited in classrooms and the library. Drinking is permitted.
- Faculty have discretion to impose penalties for violating the mask rules in their classrooms, including ejection from class for repeated violations.
- The following rules remain in place for the library:
i. Any student seen not wearing a mask in the library will be asked to leave, *and their name and ID will be recorded.
ii. Two violations of the mask policy in the library will result in loss of library privileges for the semester.
- Reporting and addressing positive cases: Students must report a positive test for Covid-19 immediately to the Office of Student Service at cardozostudentservices@yu.edu. Fully vaccinated and boostered students must quarantine for at least 5 days from the date of testing. Fully vaccinated and boostered students who are asymptomatic after 5 days from their positive diagnosis may return to campus if they test negative in a lab-based rapid antigen test. Students cannot return to campus until they either (1) test negative in a lab-based rapid antigen test after at least 5 days of quarantine, or (2) complete 10 days of quarantine and are asymptomatic and fever free for 24 hours. Students with a medical or religious vaccine exemption must quarantine for a minimum of 10 days.
- Household contacts: Those who *live with* a person who tests positive for Covid-19 must take the following steps upon learning of their household member’s illness, even if fully vaccinated and boostered:
- Take a rapid or PCR test within 1-2 days; if positive, you *must* report the positive result to the Office of Student Services for contact tracing and quarantine for at least 5 days from the date of your test until you test negative on a lab-based rapid antigen test.
- If your rapid or PCR test is negative, you must:
i. Quarantine for 5 days following the receipt of your household member’s positive test result; and
ii. Take a second COVID test, either lab-issued rapid or PCR, prior to returning to the building, and submit test results to Student Services. That test must be negative for you to be authorized to return.
- Symptoms or illness: If you are feeling any COVID-related symptoms, including fever, cough, sore throat, or congestion, please stay home and get a COVID test before re-entry to the building. All classes are recorded and accessible on Canvas so that any student who is feeling unwell or has any symptoms can access the recordings from home. Faculty will excuse absences due to illness.
We’re looking forward to seeing you in-person next week, and appreciate each of your commitment to the health and safety of our Cardozo community. As always, please contact cardozostudentservices@yu.edu with any questions.

Visitor Policy
1. All guests must be invited by appointment only. No events are open to the general public. While New York City is classified as having a “substantial” or “high” risk of community transmission, guests for events are limited to speakers or panelists.
2. All invited visitors must provide proof that they are fully vaccinated 24 hours prior to their appointment, in order to be permitted to enter the building.
3. All visitors must also abide by our policy of wearing a mask everywhere in the building, unless actively eating or drinking, at all times.
Only the following departments and groups are permitted to invite guests to campus:
Administrative offices
Academic Centers, including clinics
Faculty Members
SBA-recognized student groups (for student-sponsored programs), including journals and honors societies.
Here are the procedures to follow if you are inviting a guest to the building:
Name of guest, proof of vaccination, and the guest's appointment date and time, should be submitted, at least 24 hours before the guest’s appointment.
Faculty members should forward the visitor’s name, appointment time, and proof of vaccination to Josie Tirado in the Dean's Office.
Administrators, associate deans, and directors should collect the guest’s name and proof of vaccination and then share the approved guest’s name to Cardozo security.
SBA-recognized student groups should send the guest's name and proof of vaccination to the Office of Student Services.
Please note that a delay in completing these steps may cause the guest to be delayed as they enter the building.
We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 Delta variant data and will update this policy as circumstances change.
