Prior to joining Cardozo, Miriam served as the principal of Lacroix Law P.C., where she was committed to advocating for immigrant communities for 7 years. Before private practice, Miriam was part of the inaugural class of the Immigrant Justice Corps, a prestigious program initiated by the late Chief Judge Robert Katzmann of the U.S. Court of Appeals as a response to the crisis in legal representation for immigrants.
Since January 2020, Miriam has been a part of the academic community at Pace University, where she has taught Advanced Analytical Skills, a bar preparation course for third-year law students, and Principles of Legal Analysis, a legal writing and analysis course for second-year law students. Her passion for teaching extended beyond law school as she became an Adjunct Professor in political science, teaching the intersections between immigration, race, political ideology, and criminal justice.
In addition to her roles in education, Miriam has been actively involved in addressing implicit bias within the legal profession. For three years, she conducted implicit bias trainings with the City Bar Justice Center, for their major law firm partners, advocating for self-reflection and mindset change regarding implicit bias in pro bono work. Her efforts have contributed to fostering a more inclusive and equitable legal environment. Miriam is thrilled to continue her journey at Cardozo School of Law, where she looks forward to empowering the next generation of legal professionals.
Miriam is a graduate of Pace University and earned her J.D. from Elisabeth Haub School of Law, where she was actively involved in the Immigrant Justice Clinic. She was the 2018 Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University’s Ernestine Bartlett Honoree. She is admitted to practice in New York.
