Luís Calderón Gómez is an Assistant Professor of Law. He was previously a Visiting Assistant Professor of Tax Law at the NYU School of Law, where he taught Tax Policy Seminar and Taxation of Property Transactions. His research centers on tax law, law and philosophy, economic regulation, and international law.
Calderón Gómez’s work has been featured or is forthcoming in the Northwestern University Law Review, Tax Law Review, Yale Journal of International Law, and the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Business Law. He is currently pursuing projects on tax exemptions and their policy justifications, on the charitable exemption, on the taxation of private money, and on the compatibility of virtue ethics with free-market orthodoxy.
Prior to joining the NYU School of Law, Calderón Gómez was an associate in the tax department of Cravath, Swaine & Moore.
He holds a J.D. from Yale Law School, where he was the Articles Editor of the Yale Law Journal, and a B.A. from Vanderbilt University, where he graduated magna cum laude in economics and philosophy (highest honors).
