Professor Smith currently is a Senior Attorney at the Legal Aid Society, Juvenile Rights Practice, where she litigates various family court cases, as well as some juvenile delinquency matters. She earned her B.A. and J.D. From St. John's University.
She has published two articles "The Child Welfare System Is Failing Children, Separating Black and Brown Families" and "Secondary Trauma at Work: Why We Experience It and How We Cope" which were featured through the organization Zealous and Teen Vogue. Currently, she is the President of the St. John's School of Law Alumni of Color Chapter, a Mock Trial Coach at St. John's School of Law and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
