You may apply for admission to begin your studies in the Fall or Spring semester.

Application
We accept applications through the LSAC LLM Credential Assembly Service (LLM CAS), or directly to Cardozo via our Online Application.

Resume / Curriculum Vitae
The resume/CV should be current at the time of application and include information about education (including dates of attendance at universities and dates of degrees received) and work experience (including employer names and locations, position titles, dates of employment, and description of responsibilities for the position held).
Personal Statement
Two (2) typed, double-spaced pages. The statement should describe your reasons for pursuing an LLM degree and include any information you believe would be helpful to the Admissions Committee in making its decision.
Letter of Recommendation
One letter of recommendation is required and can be submitted through the LSAC or directly to Cardozo. The letter should be addressed to "Cardozo School of Law" and may be written by law school professors and employers or colleagues whose supervisory positions permit informed evaluations of your qualifications. If you do not register with LLM CAS, an original letter of recommendation on letterhead with an original signature must be submitted to the LLM Admissions Office at Cardozo Law. If the recommender chooses to email us the letter of recommendation s/he may do so at llm@yu.edu.
Official Transcripts
Please submit official transcripts of first degree in law and any other universities attended. The transcript should be an official record from the academic institution, clearly indicating the dates of attendance, the courses taken, the grades received, and the degree conferred.
Transcripts should be submitted through the LLM CAS. If you do not register with LLM CAS, the original, official transcript of your law degree must be received by Cardozo in an unopened sealed envelope with the issuing administrator's signature along the envelope seal.
Transcripts may be mailed directly to Cardozo's Admissions Office by the issuing institute or by the applicant:

Student or PDF copies of transcripts may be accepted in extraordinary circumstances, and only if followed by an original transcript in the mail. Should you have any questions, please email us at llm@yu.edu.
Application Status Check
In order to check on the status of your LL.M. application, it is important that you provide us with a valid e-mail address. The Office of Admissions will notify you via e-mail when we have received your application. Visit your Application Status Page to monitor your application materials and to make sure all items are received in a timely manner prior to our application deadlines.
Decisions
Applications are considered complete and submitted to the Admissions Committee for review only when all supporting documents, including letters of recommendation, are received. The Admissions Committee makes every effort to review applications thoroughly and quickly.
Decisions are made on a rolling basis, beginning in October for the Spring term, and January for the Fall term.
Reapplication
Applicant files are maintained for one year. If you are reapplying within one year of submitting your initial application, you may complete and submit a new application form and fee, and the documents in your previous file will be considered along with any updated documents you submit. If you are applying more than one year after your initial application, then you must submit a new application form and all new application documents.
Once submitted all application materials become the property of Cardozo School of Law and cannot be returned to the applicant.
