Professor Ed Zelinksy says, in an article on the Oxford University Press blog, that Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s founder and CEO, can lead by example and help both charities and the federal Treasury. Bezos has asked for advice about charitable donations on Twitter.
Warren Buffett and Bill Gates’ generous charitable donations have a down side, Zelinsky points out, in that under current law, the federal Treasury loses substantial revenue when appreciated stock is donated by a U.S. citizen to charity.
