July 16, 2018 - The case involving a monkey who took a selfie, and the question of the monkey's rights over that photo, will continue as a judge on the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has asked the full court to consider rehearing the case.
Professor Deborah Pearlstein was quoted in an AP News article regarding a settlement in a landmark lawsuit against two psychologists who helped design the CIA’s harsh interrogation methods used in the war on terror.
Pearlstein noted that the specifics of the settlement from the American Civil Liberties makes it unlikely the CIA will again pursue the tactics, which included beatings and waterboarding.
“This sends a signal to those who might consider doing this in the future,” Pearlstein said.
