Thinking Outside the Box: Twenty Years of Dispute Resolution without Lawsuits, Conflict or Run Away Costs

An evening of stories with author and disability rights lawyer Lainey Feingold

Join author and disability rights lawyer Lainey Feingold for a first person account of Structured Negotiation, a dispute resolution process that trades the stress, expense, and conflict of lawsuits for true problem-solving and relationship building. Come hear stories of the people Lainey has worked with and the issues she has worked on as a lawyer for blind people and their organizations throughout the United States. Lainey and her clients and co-counsel developed Structured Negotiation to work on cutting edge issues of technology and information access.  Her book about the method, Structured Negotiation, A Winning Alternative to Lawsuits, now makes the process available to anyone looking for a highly effective way to resolve legal claims without filing lawsuits.

Praise for Structured Negotiation

"As one of America’s leading civil rights lawyers, Lainey Feingold uses Structured Negotiation to obtain far-reaching settlements without litigation. Now she shares her secrets. This book should be required reading for lawyers and law students alike.”
— Samuel R. Bagenstos, Frank G. Millard Professor of Law, University of Michigan Law School; Former Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights

"As a claimant representative in Structured Negotiation I had a seat at the table and a role in the outcome of the case. I highly recommend this book to advocates in all fields looking for a kinder but equally effective approach to achieving social change and resolving disputes.”
— Susan Mazrui, Structured Negotiation participant and public policy executive
