The Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution, along with the Cardozo Law Institute in Holocaust and Human Rights and the Black Law Students Association are proud to honor Leymah Gbowee as the 2018 Cardozo International Advocate for Peace.

Leymah Gbowee helped end the Second Liberian Civil War through her organization Women of Liberia Mass Action for Peace. She won the 2011 Nobel Prize for Peace for this work. She currently serves as Executive Director of the Women, Peace and Security Program at the Earth Institute at Columbia University.

Many past recipients of the International Advocate for Peace Award were honored for helping resolve a conflict, such as Ambassador Richard Holbrooke (Dayton Peace Accords), President Jimmy Carter (Camp David Accords), Archbishop Desmond M. Tutu (Peace and Reconciliation Commission) and Senator George Mitchell (Good Friday Agreement).

Join us on April 27, 2018, in the fifth floor lounge to celebrate her accomplishments.
