2019 BALLSA Dinner Honorees
   Rafael Ignacio Castellanos ’86 was born in Manhattan's Spanish Harlem. His father was a Guatemalan immigrant and his mother is a Nicaraguan immigrant. His first language was Spanish.
 
In 1986 Rafael graduated from Yeshiva University’s Benjamin Cardozo School of Law. In the year 2000 when he helped found the Expert Title Insurance Agency. Rafael has served President of the New York State Land Title Association. Expert Title is also a member of the American Land Title Association (ALTA), National Association of Independent Land Title Agents (NAILTA), Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) and is certified as Minority Business Enterprise.
 
Rafael is also an active member of the community. He is an EMT and volunteers with the Central Park Medical Unit.  Mr. Castellanos currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Regional Emergency Medical Services Council of NYC and is President and Co-Chairman of the Board of CPMU, Mr. Castellanos has been affiliated with the Medical Unit for more than 40 years and has been president for more than 25 years; he and his colleagues are in the business of saving lives and responding to the emergency needs of more than 42 million people who visit Central Park annually. Since 1975 CPMU has been entirely a FREE service to all their patients.
 
For his volunteer efforts, Mr. Castellanos has received numerous commendations from various New York City Mayors, the NYPD, the NYC Dept. of Parks, The NYC Council and most recently the White House. The President of the United States, Barack Obama, recognized Mr. Castellanos with the “President’s Call to Service Award” recognizing volunteers for their life time of service.

   David S. Huntley '90 is the Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Compliance Officer at AT&T Inc. David is responsible for developing policies to safeguard the privacy of customer and employee information, verifying compliance with the legal and regulatory requirements of the countries and jurisdictions where AT&T operates, and ensuring adherence to internal compliance requirements. His responsibilities also include accessibility compliance oversight. David has held this role since December 2014.

David was appointed to this role after serving as senior vice president and assistant general counsel-AT&T Services. In this role, he oversaw a nationwide team responsible for providing legal support to the Home Solutions and Global Marketing organizations. He was also responsible for Legal administration.

Previously, David served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary for the Advertising Solutions and Interactive operations. He also has served as senior vice president- Mobility Customer Service Centers, where he led a team of more than 30,000 employees. In addition, David has served as senior vice president of E-commerce, Direct Mail and Customer Information Services, and has held significant positions in external affairs, wireless operations, M&A and data operations.

David currently serves on the boards of Texas Capital Bancshares, Inc., AT LAST!, the Baylor Health Care System Foundation and the Dallas Citizens Council. In addition, he is a Trustee of the Southern Methodist University Board, and a member of the Texas Business Hall of Fame, the Executive Leadership Council, and the Business Ethics Leadership Alliance (BELA) Executive Steering Committee.

He previously served on the executive committee of the United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast and the government relations committee of the Greater Houston Partnership. He also served as a board member of the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau and the 2004 Houston Super Bowl Host Committee, as well as on the board of trustees of the Texas Bar Foundation.

David holds a law degree from the the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

   Anusree (Anu) Nair '09 is a partner at Klasko Immigration Law Partners’ Philadelphia office. She focuses her practice on business immigration –helping investors, scientists, doctors and other highly skilled professionals achieve their immigration goals.

As the EB-5 Investor Team’s managing partner, Anu leads a team of dedicated attorneys who assist investors in securing their greencards through regional center investments and individual investment opportunities. Recognized within the field for her command of investor-related issues, she is frequently called on to review EB-5 cases prepared by other law firms to ensure compliance with USCIS’ extremely rigorous standards. Anu is routinely retained to respond to difficult Notices of Intent to Deny (NOIDs) and to file appeals for denials received by other firms. She represents clients at visa interviews, both at U.S. Consulates overseas and with the Citizenship and Immigration Services in the United States.

With her strong science background, Anu is uniquely poised to assist doctors, researchers, and other highly skilled professionals secure their greencards through EB-1A (Aliens of Extraordinary Ability), EB-1B (Outstanding Researchers); and EB-2 National Interest Waiver petitions.

While Anu has extensive experience representing hospitals, international record companies, multinational businesses, and major production companies in securing a variety of employment-based immigration benefits for their employees, she also has expertise in family-based immigration. She assists clients with family-based immigration matters and represents clients before the Immigration Court, the Citizenship and Immigration Service, and Customs and Border Protection.

As an immigrant herself, Anu knows firsthand how difficult and daunting the immigration process is. With this background, she is acutely aware that her ability to solve immigration issues not only impacts the lives of individual clients, but also their entire families and future generations.

Anu is a 2006 graduate of Baruch College where she majored in Biology. She went on to obtain her law degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she served as submissions editor of the Cardozo Journal of Law and Gender. Prior to joining Klasko Immigration Law Partners, Anu practiced with an immigration law firm in New York City and was an Adjunct Lecturer of Biology at Baruch College.
