NYSBA-YLS Mentoring Reception

Date

October 21, 2013 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

1L students who signed up on a first come basis in September (as per the instructions distributed via OCS email) and were matched with mentors from the New York State Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section are invited to meet their mentors and learn more about the New York State Bar Association and its Young Lawyers Section at this reception. 2L & 3L students who participated in this program last year are also invited to participate in reconnecting with their mentors and meet the 1L students who are now part of their “mentoring cluster” – 1Ls will have the benefit of having a 2L & 3L Big Brother/Sister to advise them in addition to the NYSBA attorney mentor. The goal of the pilot program is that in the course of the next several years, “mentoring clusters” will develop long-term relationships as each year’s 1Ls and their mentors will continue to add on new mentees each year. Ultimately the groups are comprised of the mentor, a 3L, a 2L and a 1L with each member supporting the others in a tight-knit group. The NYSBA has arranged for a reduced student membership fee – this is a great opportunity to expand your networking capabilities through bar association membership!
